Designer Dish: Serguei Povaguin
Serguei Povaguin is an amazing Russian designer that I’ve come to love after viewing his S/S ’09 collection — which was shown at Paris Fashion Week & Madrid Fashion Week. Serguei moved to Barcelona as teenager and went on to study at ESDI (Escuela Superior de Diseno) where he received a degree in Fashion & Textile Design. He also graduated from the University of Southhampton.
Serguei began pursuing the fashion industry full force in the summer of 2002, where his first project “I love Spain” won him the ModaFad Pure White Award for the Best Collection. He went on to present collections at London Graduates Week, the Berliner Durcheise Preview and the Genial Fashion STIB all in 2004.
It wasn’t until 2007 that Serguei decided that it was time to build his own brand. He hasn’t slowed down since. For his third collection for S/S ’09, Serguei stayed neutral with a color palette consisting of: basic black, a hint of grey, deep royal blues and soft peach. The collection also included a unique & fresh take on accessories with the use of designer scarves from the likes of: Hermes, Balmain and Dior. Love, love, love.
