I had the chance to speak with designer Mauricio Alpizarbefore his SS13 presentation. He said his inspiration for the collection was The Garden of Eden–a 1930’s print still using color. LAMIK sponsored the presentation and did all the make up for the models, giving them that distinct 1930’s look. He used 5 different prints of insect wings to create the patterns. He wanted to add color into this current recession to make people happy again. “Everybody is so dark,” he said and he still wanted to maintain sophisication . “People think black and white is the only way to express that”. And as a Latin American, Mauricio wanted to bring his heritage into his collection and a beautiful collection it was.
