Major Bite: H&M Fashion Against Aids Campaign 2010

H&M Fashion Against Aids Campaign 2010
Every year I look forward to H&M’s Fashion Against Aids Campaign. I’m beyond excited that for this year’s campaign, they are switching the style up and producing a full fledged clothing and accessories collection as opposed to their normal t-shirts for awareness. It’s appropriately titled “The Festival Collection”.
“For me, festivals are unique and inspirational places as they join both music and fashion. To see your favourite bands, to see creative people gathered, all from different nations and with different looks really inspires me. It is very important to make people aware of the problem with AIDS and HIV and we want to contribute in the fight against the disease by donating some of the sales from this collection,” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s head of design.
Can I just say now that I want everything? Take a look at the ad campaign below + some of my favorite pieces from the collection. The exclusive collection will be available in select H&M stores on May 20th.

Major Bite: CFDA Launches Fashion For Haiti Campaign + T-Shirt

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has launched an exclusive ‘Fashion For Haiti’ campaign to raise funds for the people of Haiti due to the devastating earthquake that shook up their lives on January 12th. The chosen face of the campaign is the lovely Beyonce Knowles and the limited edition t-shirt ($25 retail value) will be available for purchase at hundreds of retailers nationwide beginning on February 16th. All proceeds from t-shirt sales will go to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund to aid in the immediate need for relief as well as long term recovery efforts. I already plan to purchase a tee to lend my support. Please continue to support in any way you can to help Haiti! To Haiti, with love.

Fashion For Breakfast // Support For Haiti

Haiti — You are in our prayers.
I’m sure by now you have all heard and seen the tremendous devastation that occurred in Haiti this week. My heart and prayers are with all of those who lost their lives unsuspectingly and those that are still alive fighting. I can not imagine the suffering you are going through. But as you’ve proven in the past, you will rise above this. I have already donated to YELE and plan to donate to other non-profits as well. If you haven’t done so already, please help in the efforts of assisting those in Haiti! Many fashion brands and stores are already donating sales to relief efforts as well.

The Juice: Designers Against AIDS + H&M
SPREADING THE WORD ONE SHIRT AT A TIME

Jade Jagger and Katharine Hamnett have joined forces with the likes of the Scissor Sisters, Rihanna and Timbaland to create a new collection – Fashion Against AIDS – with H&M. All the artists involved have participated free of charge to design a range of T-shirts, tank tops and hoodies for the project, which was initiated by charitable organization Designers Against AIDS. The aim of the organization is to raise awareness of the spread of HIV/AIDS among young people. The pieces run the gamut from subtle patterns representing those affected to more overt means of getting the message across; a contribution from Hamnet – a T-shirt emblazoned with “Use a condom!” – is typically vocal.
“It’s a collection that’s rich in color, with considerable commitment going into every garment,” explains H&M’s head of design, Margareta van den Bosch. “The artists have created personal prints with a strong sense of style.” And with a top price of $19.99, there’s no excuse for not getting involved. H&M’s Fashion Against AIDS range will be available from February as part of its younger-end Divided label, with 25 per cent of the proceeds going to HIV/AIDS-prevention projects around the world.
