Beauty Bargains

Makeup can get a bit expensive. And while the bigger palettes many brands offer SEEM way more expensive, they’re actually not. My current must have palette for this season is Tarte’s The Flower Child Eyeshadow Palette ($44). Now let’s start off with the money you’ll save. A sephora brand eye shadow is $12, a MAC brand eye shadow is $14 dollars, and those are on the lower ends of designer makeup prices. For our purposes we’ll say a single eye shadow costs 11 dollars, so 4 shadows would cost 44. Well for 44 dollars you are getting TEN shadows, a double ended eyeshadow brush, a double ended long wearing eyeliner, AND  a sample of eye primer. Granted the swatches of shadow are smaller, but who really uses the entire shadow they purchase? Not only is the value there, the case is BEAUTIFUL. And Tarte really did a good job with variety, you get your basic neutrals, but you also get plenty of pops of color in the shadow and even in the liner! This is a a must buy!

Diorshow Extase

Happy Valentine’s Day! What’s more romantic than big flirty lashes? We all know Dior has the best mascara in town. Their Diorshow quickly became a favorite among many Make Up Artists and Makeupnistas alike. My personal favorite was Diorshow BLACKOUT, giving you a bigger lash. Well they have now launched exclusively at Sephora Diorshow Extase ($28). The mascara was inspired by John Galliano’s tiered dresses. The twisted layers in the mascara wand create intense volume while a patented ceramide promotes stronger and fuller lashes. This just might be my new favorite mascara!

Tarina Tarantino

The famed jewelery designer from LA has now officially launched her cosmetics line, available exclusively at Sephora. This highly anticipated line is packed with full lashes and bright lips. I love how the cosmetics are packed in bedazzled cases. The whole line is very whimsical, and even features a reasonably priced 5 piece brush set ($69). The lipsticks are bold, the eye shadows are bright, and the lip gloss is passionately pink. I’m putting the Sparklicity Shimmer Dust on my makeup wish list! The shimmer dust gives your skin a light, sparkly glow (and you all know by now how much I love glowing skin). You can even use it on your hair for a playful touch! I especially love the packaging, the dust can be yours for 39 smackeroos. Make sure you head over to Sephora and get a look at the entire collection!

Yummy Item of the Day: Max Factor Vivid Impact Highlighting Mascara

Hi lovies! I have a yummy new makeup product for you today as the yummy item of the day. Yes, this is not a beauty/makeup blog but I believe makeup is apart of FASHION and I loveeeee makeup. Makeup is art. Fashion is art. You get it? Fashion for your Face! Makeup can at times be your best accessory. So I was reading the latest issue of Cosmo yesterday (with my girl Beyonce on the cover) and I always look at the AD’s first for some reason! I came across a fantabulous one – it was Max Factor’s new product with the beautiful spokeswoman Carmen Electra and she looked absolutely amazing! Her face was BEAT honey. I thought I was looking at a high fashion AD for a second until I read that the product was actually Max Factor’s new Vivid Impact Highlighting Mascara! How genius is that? A double sided mascara. It not only lengthens and volumizes your lashes but it also gives them a pop of instant COLOR! I’m totally sold on this product. This mascara is perfect for glamming your eyes up for the holiday season – since you’ll want to be more dramatic than usual I’m sure. And today is payday too? I will be running to my nearest Walmart to snatch up this mascara! ;) Will you?

FYI: You can also get the product a tad bit cheaper at drugstore.com

EXTRA BITE…
As a little bonus, in case you want to pick up this lovely mascara, I’m gonna give you guys some tips on how to wear it. Make sure you save it to prevent walking around looking like a clown gone wrong!

How to Apply
·Apply the basecoat from the very base of the top lashes to the tip, working the wand outwards.
· Wait for the basecoat to dry (Note: if you don’t wait for it to dry the highlighting top coat won’t show up as vivid and will blend with the basecoat as opposed to highlighting lashes)
· Apply the top coat on the very tips of the top lashes and on the bottom lashes to create a highlighted look with a shot of color.
· Apply a few coats of top coat from base to tip on lower and upper lashes for a lot of color
· Apply topcoat on lower lashes only to create a multi-dimensional lash look.

Wearability
· For green or hazel eyes – try Burning Bordeux shade to make the color of eyes pop
· For blue eyes – Try 24 Karat Brown to make Blue eyes pop and add a light, gold tint to lashes (need to emphasizes gold lightens lashes)
· For brown eyes- All shades work, especially the black and pink combo to make eyes pop
· For all – The most versatile is the black/silver combination when applied correctly above.

YUMMY ITEM OF THE DAY: LANCOME PRECIOUS CARAT LIPGLOSS

PRECIOUS CARAT Lip Gloss Jewel – $40.00

At first glance what would you think this item above is? A rare jewel diamond perhaps that costs almost as much as a pair of Louboutins & a Balenciaga bag? Well, you’d be close – but no stiletto. This is actually a brand new lipgloss offered by Lancome cosmetics. The container shaped like a precious cut diamond is actually made of Swarovski Crystals. On the inside, prepare to open up to a transparent gloss with a bit of sparkle that can be worn alone or with a lipstick for that jewel-like finish. This precious jewel will run you $40 – kinda pricey for just a lip gloss but hey it surely beats going bankrupt to get the real diamonds right?

Extra Bite..I also stumbled across some Dior lip glosses who have similar jewel inspired cases!
Dior Pretty Charms – $55.00
Jeweled Makeup Necklace – $90.00
You can pick up these items onine at http://www.sephora.com/
