The Juice: Mark Fast Creates First Diffusion Line, “Faster”

Up-and-coming London based designer, Mark Fast is the latest designer to tap into diffusion line territory. You may remember Mark Fast best as the designer who used plus size models in his show for London Fashion Week for Spring 2010. Sound familiar? I hope so, but nevertheless, Mark Fast does great work and he doesn’t discriminate = ++ in my book. His new diffusion line, appropriately and cutely titled “Faster” will be mass produced in Italy with basic wardrobe building items including: leggings, cropped tops and mini dresses ranging from $25-$400. Which is clearly a considerable price drop from his namesake designer label which is ten times as much. Why a diffusion line you might ask? Fast states that he wants his clothing to be accessible to a much wider audience. Completely understandable. That should be the goal for any designer, honestly. But in this current economy, you definitely have to try twice as hard to appeal and reach as many consumers as you can –especially in the middle market. Ching Ching. I’m excited to see the final products from the line which are set to hit stores sometime in the spring.
[Sidebar: Curve & Seven boutiques in NYC for the time being are the stockists that have their hands all over the line. I'm sure more are to follow. Stay tuned.]
