Major Bite: Matthew Williamson is Designing Accessories for Bulgari

Bulgari is teaming up with fab designer Matthew Williamson to design an exclusive capsule collection of handbags for the spring/summer 2011 season that will be presented during Milan Fashion Week in September. Note: This is Bulgari’s first collaboration with a fashion designer.

Francesco Trapani, chief executive officer of the Italian jeweler, said he selected Williamson “for the great sense of color and design he brings to his work.” Bulgari’s accessories collections are designed by a team based in Florence, where they are also manufactured. Gianluca Lera, who helped spearhead the company’s push into accessories, exited the company in the fall. It will be exciting to see Matthew Williamson’s undeniable talent manifested through this new venture! I can not wait to see it.

Major Bite: Rodarte & Matthew Williamson Launch Men’s Collections

Designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy aka The Rodarte Girls have created their very first menswear capsule collection, Brodarte. The limited edition collection will feature a sampling of their signature open weaving, cobweb knitwear pieces sold exclusively for cult favorite, Opening Ceremony. The collection comprised of two crew-neck sweaters and two cardigans is said to be doing very well already according to reps at Opening Ceremony.

Sidebar: I don’t know why the name ‘Brodarte’ makes me chuckle. Maybe because I think of Bromance? Ha. It’s cute though. I like it.

Matthew Williamson keeps spreading his genius one design at a time. The British designer has also created an exclusive capsule menswear collection for Spring/Summer 2010, with a view to expand the line seasonally thereafter.

“I wanted to start a menswear line of slim-fitting, luxury cashmere jumpers in a range of great colours. I know these jumpers will become season-less staples in my own wardrobe,” explains Williamson of the range, which features his signature print and embellishment. “Cashmere and silk printed scarves and hand-beaded T-shirts complement the line and form a solid foundation for the collection to grow next season.”

The capsule collection will be available for purchase from February 2010 in Harrods and of course Matthew Williamson flagship stores and official online boutique. Williamson hopes to expand the line seasonally. We’ll see!

Major Bite: First Look// Matthew Williamson for H&M

matthew-williamson6

Pictures have been leaking online as of late of the much anticipated Matthew Williamson Collection for H&M that is set to launch in selected stores on April 23rd. The first installment will be immediately followed by another Summer collection for women as well as men sometime in May. According to the lovely folks over at H&M, Matthew Williamson’s women’s range will be shipped first to about 200 stores and the second delivery will arrive in all 1,700 stores worldwide. Nevertheless, I’m sure this collection will be an instant sell out. This is one of my favorite designer x H&M collaborations to date. I’m lusting over the peacock printed mini dress and the layered printed maxi dress — I have to channel my inner Nicole Richie and try that look for Spring. A leather jacket paired with a soft &  flowy maxi dress. Love it.
